DEI in the Irish Education System

Having achieved 180 Leaving Certificate points and spent seven years in higher education, progressing from Level 5 to Level 9, I am acutely aware of the transformative power of education, as well as the gaps through which under-represented groups can fall during this journey. I have developed training programmes for higher education institutions that examines these areas.

In this training I explores areas such as

– The current state of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in third-level education in Ireland.

– The main benefits and drawbacks of attending various colleges of education within the Irish system, and analyses how third-level education impacts individuals with disabilities.

– The work that remains to be done by students, staff, government, and the wider workforce to improve outcomes for under-represented groups.

– I also highlight the significant role that student councils can play in supporting these groups within higher education.
